Manual For Burke Mill ?
Take a look at the manuals for a Bridgeport or a Tree or any other common mill, the manual is pretty sparse. Coincidentally, I also bought one of those mills last week, a later Powermatic model. Most of the information I was able to find came from backissues of Home Shop Machinist and it's sister publication. Have fun with your new toy.

Therefore the slop may be in the nut/screw OR it may be at least partially in the gearing. There could even be a loose gear, that has slop due to the gear slipping on the shaft before the setscrew "takes up".

millrite milling machine inspection/repair
I have one of the last ones made by powermatic and had an ultrasonic milling head sold by another company. It was painted brown but the green paint with white stripe underneath. I removed the ultrasonic head and installed a Bridgeport J-head. The millrite is.one of the best mills in its class,a very basic machine but solid. I'm no expert.

32. Apr 6, 2014. #2. Dan, I have a Burke Millrite that is basically the same as the Powermatic. Dimensions are: Base: 30" W X 32" deep. Overall: 54" wide, 46" deep, 73" tall. I have had mine for about twelve years, it has served me well, doesn't have some of the options that a Bridgeport does, but it does everything I have needed to do.

I recently picked up a 9x49 Birmingham BP clone and now need to sell my smaller vertical mill. I have owned this mill in my home shop since '94. Powermatic Burke Millrite Model MVN S#79722 It's in very good to excellent condition with original paint and scraping still visible on the ways. The quill is manual feed only and has 4 inches of travel.
