The Boddington gold mine (BGM) is an operating open-pit mine located 130km from Perth, Western Australia (WA). It is one of the largest gold-producing mines in the country. The $2.4bn project was initially a three-way joint venture between Newmont Mining (Newmont), AngloGold Ashanti (AngloGold), and Newcrest Mining.
It is also the world's fifth deepest open-pit mine. It produces 66t gold per annum. The state-owned company, Navoi Mining & Metallurgical Combinat (NGMK) owns and operates the mine. The mine was discovered in 1958. It measures about 3.5km by 3km and has a current mining depth of 600m, which is planned to be extended beyond 1,000m.
Surface mining can be divided into open-pit and open-cut methods of metal and coal mining. The surface mining will be more complicated when the depth of the pit increases, and the miners need to go deeper to reach the ore. Advanced analytics and using the new technology can potentially help mining companies find a cost-effective …
In-pit crushing and conveying (IPCC) systems are currently receiving more attention as a result of the existing characteristics of open-pit mining operations and what is likely to happen in the future. The use of trucks and shovels for loading and hauling has been used as a dominant system in open-pit and open-cast mines due to their large …
Not surprisingly, average energy unit costs by source vary among the nine open-pit mines. Energy source (e.g. electricity) 2.2.3 Analysis: Open-Pit Mining Operations The open-pit mining operations were subdivided into 10 stages of production and three support activities. These categories are illustrated below. 1 9 $/kWh Drilling Blasting Excavating
The primary crushers are four mobile roller crushers (PF 200–9500) with the feed size between 0.80 m to 1.20 m and a maximum product size of 0.35 m; the crushed ore is transported through a system …
Comparing mill operations for both open pit mining to underground mining, where the metal is separated from rock ore containing the metal mined, both open pit and underground mining have the same energy needs, in kWh/tonne. ... high energy use equipment is used. Crushing is a technology used in the large product recycling …
Backgrounds: The transportation system within any mining project, which is responsible for delivering extracted ore to the crushing units or wastes to the wasting dumps as the destinations, poses a significant challenge in mining processes. On one hand, there are various transportation systems, notably the Truck–Shovel, the traditional …
In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) systems are receiving more attention today due to current characteristics of open-pit mining operations and what is expected to occur in the future.
In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) has gained popularity in the last two decades in the mining sector (Osanloo and Paricheh, 2020), in response to the …
3 Fig 2: Crushing arrngement of IPCC system [5]. 3. In-pit crushing system In-pit crushing and conveying is an alternative system for transport in open pit mines.
The Aitik open pit is scheduled to reach an ultimate depth of 400m in the northern section by 2012. Aitik copper mine is one of four mines owned by Boliden. Located near Gallivare, northern Sweden, the low-grade Aitik copper deposit was discovered in the early 1930s. Bulk-mining technology made exploitation feasible in the 1960s and mining …
The surface crushing station of open-pit mine is divided into mobile, semi mobile, semi fixed and fixed according to the fixation degree of crushing equipment and foundation. Fodamon engineers ...
In this paper, DES is tested as a methodology for quickly and accurately simulating the materials handling systems of open pit mines for the purpose of comparing in-pit-crushing and truck/shovel systems. A mine is designed and entered in a model using the program Arena®. The mine permutations are simulated bench by bench across their …
Read this article. In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) systems are receiving more attention today due to current characteristics of open-pit mining operations and what is expected to occur in the future.
The mining of the final phase of the Grasberg open pit was completed in Q4 2019 and the mine transitioned from open-pit mining to large-scale underground mining. Grasberg Block Cave is estimated to contain proven and probable reserves of 275.2 billion ounces of copper and 14.2Moz of gold as of December 2019.
Transporting ore and waste rock is one of the most crucial elements of an open-pit mining operation. ... in-pit crushing and conveying (IPCC) is a technology that has grown in popularity since it ...
Open-pit mining requires creating a large pit in the ground from which the miners extract the needed material. This is one method miners may use to extract silver from the earth. The other technique is underground silver mining. Occasionally, removing a hilltop with explosives to expose the rocky materials beneath is the first step in creating ...
A new conceptual mining method called the near-face stockpile (NFS), which combines the in-pit crushing and conveying IPCC system with a pre-crusher stockpile, has recently been proposed for large open pits with sufficient pit bottom width. In the past, stockpiles mainly act as a "buffer" to improve the stability of the production system.

Tin processing - Mining, Concentrating: Vein deposits, such as those in Bolivia and the United Kingdom, usually occur in granite formations and are recovered by conventional underground hard-rock mining techniques. In deep mines, primary crushing equipment is usually located underground in order to reduce the ore to a manageable size before …
In a typical open pit, ore and waste are loaded into haul trucks via shovel. These trucks then travel up and out of the pit to either the waste dump or to the mill, …
The Open Pit Mine The Open Pit mine is 500 meter deep, below the highest point of surface topography and approximately 30 million tonnes (t) of ore per year is excavated. ... Ore from the Pit is delivered to the crusher either as direct feed or via adjacent Run-of-Mine (ROM) Pads depending on metallurgical blending and material handling ...
4. Deep concave open-pit mines can reduce the amount of infrastructure stripping and slope expansion; 5. High fuel and tire consumption, low equipment utilization, high transportation cost, and short economic transportation distance; 6. Exhaust gas from trucks pollutes the environment.
Open pit ore losses and dilution are two of the most important factors that must be considered when designing and operating an open pit mine. Ore losses refer to the amount of ore that is lost due to mining activities, while dilution refers to the amount of waste material that is mixed with the ore. Both of these factors can have a significant ...
Truck-Shovel system continues to be the predominant mining hauling system of choice for surface mines because of its ease of implementation, high flexibility, and high scalability. 1. The majority upfront expenditures of TS systems are trucks and loaders (e.g., excavators and electric shovels).
Nowadays, In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) planning has been addressed as one of the hottest area of research in the mining engineering. Semi-mobile IPCC systems have had the most compatibility and coordination with the open-pit mining strategy. The existing open...
Open-pit mining differs from quarrying (with the possible exception of iron ore) in that the valuable mineral constitutes only a small proportion of the total tonnage of rock produced. In quarrying, the rock itself is the valuable commodity, with virtually all of the raw rock that is won being processed (often only by crushing and screening) to ...
ABSTRACT In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC) systems are receiving more attention today due to current characteristics of open-pit mining operations and what is expected to occur in the future.
